Sydney, NSW, Australia. Lung cancer survivors from Australia represented Team Draft at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia. The survivors watched the Stanford Cardinal defeat the Rice Owls with our co-founder, Stanford Alum, and 12 year NFL Linebacker, Chris Draft.

Stanford University are set to take on Rice University as Sydney plays host to the opening game of the 2017 College Football season with the College Football Sydney Cup.

The announcement of the game is a fantastic result for Australian sport fans and the city of Sydney, reflecting the success of the inaugural College Football Sydney Cup which saw University of California, Berkley defeat University of Hawaii in front of close to 62,000 fans.

The Stanford Cardinal football program has a decorated history with 15 conference and two NCAA national titles in their record books. They also boast 35 current NFL players as being products of their football program. The Rice University Owls, based out of Houston, Texas, also compete at the NCAA Division One level, and can also lay claim to producing numerous current and former NFL players.

The 2017 College Football Cup promises to be a sporting spectacle not to be missed, bringing the full experience of American football to Sydney for a hotly contested match.

In 2012, we, Team Draft, launched our inaugural Survivor Series initiative on CNN during a nationally-televised prime time special focusing on lung cancer and our National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer.

Our Survivor at Every Stadium, leverages our connections with the NFL, its teams and players with our relationships with many of the top cancer centers in the country. As a part of our International Campaign, the games allow us to celebrate our survivors, raise awareness, and give hope to those battling the disease, as well as shine a light on the important work being done at cancer research and treatment centers around the country.

Team Draft’s goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and to raise awareness on a local, national, and international level by using each game and each survivor’s story to weave a broader narrative about the state of cancer and the hope that now exists for those battling the disease.

Special thanks to the Stanford Cardinal, TLA, Dr. Matthew Peters, Lung Foundation Australia and all of our Team Draft supporters for helping make this event possible.
