Pittsburgh, PA. Lung cancer survivors Dan Eibert and Scott Hamill joined, Pittsburgh Steelers Legend and lung cancer advocate, Levon Kirkland at the Steelers Thursday Night Football game. The group watched the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Tennessee Titans at Heinz Field.

NFL veterans Chris Draft and Levon Kirkland have a lot in common.  Both men spent more than a decade in the League.  Both played linebacker.  Both married beautiful, intelligent, vivacious women named Keasha.  And both  lost their wives to lung cancer. Read more..

In 2012, we, Team Draft, launched our inaugural Survivor Series initiative on CNN during a nationally-televised prime time special focusing on lung cancer and our National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer.

Our Survivor at Every Stadium, leverages our connections with the NFL, its teams and players with our relationships with many of the top cancer centers in the country. As a part of our International Campaign, the games allow us to celebrate our survivors, raise awareness, and give hope to those battling the disease, as well as shine a light on the important work being done at cancer research and treatment centers around the country.

Team Draft’s goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and to raise awareness on a local, national, and international level by using each game and each survivor’s story to weave a broader narrative about the state of cancer and the hope that now exists for those battling the disease.

“I am honored to be part of the Team Draft, Cancer Survivor Awareness program.  Lung cancer continues to be the leading killer of all cancers.  What many are surprised to hear too, is that many lung cancer patients never smoked!  I hope that those who see me and others who are fighting lung cancer, realize that that there have been great strides in conquering this disease.  There is HOPE.  It is happening right now!”  ~ Scott Hamill

"I have been a Steelers fan since I was four years old. (1974)..  Due to deployments, money, and being stationed across the U.S. and all over the world, I have never been able to attend a game in person.    When I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer as given 6 months to live it was devastating beyond words.   I have fought and due to the Good Lord, science and amazing doctors, I am on an investigational drug that has given me back my life.    I am now retired and enjoying life as much as I can.       Now because of the Chris Draft foundation I am going to a home Game at Heinz field.   There are moments in your life that stay with you; seeing your wife for the first time.   Meeting your newborn sons,  meeting your grandson, coming home from deployments after living through hell and having a wife that has been there through it all.    But today as I drive to the stadium I am filled with hope and emotions that only true fans can understand....    Thank you again, Chris.   Team Draft really makes a difference, not only with the survivors in every stadium, but with all you do fighting the good fight against lung cancer... ~Dan Eibert
