Rams in the Classroom: Reaching your Goals

On June 2, 2008, Chris Draft joined the AFT Local 420 at a special dinner to honor 5 students from St. Louis Public Schools.  The dinner, called “Rams in the Classroom – Reaching Your Goal” honored individual student’s efforts in setting and trying to reach their goals in their classroom. Chris Draft was invited to attend to help the members of the Local 420, teachers, administrators and student’s families honor the youth.

AFT St. Louis, Local 420, President Mary J. Armstrong stated, “We are proud of these students’ accomplishments and are pleased that St. Louis Rams’ Chris Draft will join us in honoring them at this event. This program recognizes the individual student’s efforts in setting and trying to reach their goals in the classroom – just as a professional athlete does on the field.  It isn’t always easy but these students demonstrate that hard work, attendance, and perseverance to prevail are all part of character building and ultimate success, Local 420, the Rams and Chris Draft recognize that,” she added.

Armstrong went on to say, “Professional athletes have an influence on students’ lives and on the community as a whole - Chris Draft takes that role seriously.”

The event was held at Bartolino’s Osteria, and each of the students were accompanied by the educators who nominated them for the honor.  The winning students and nominating teachers were as follows:
