St. Louis Rams football players Chris Draft, Richard Owens, Tim McGarigle, Justin Phinisee and Clifton Ryan all participated in the United Way/NFL Hometown Huddle on Monday, Oct. 8.

The players arrived at the Wohl Recreation Center in North St. Louis to volunteer their time with about 60 elementary students from the St. Louis Public Schools of Clark and Lexington. Activities included a nutritional talk, yoga instruction and HOPSports interactive fitness video workout geared for children. The Rams players hopped, squatted, worked the fitness mazes along with the students as well as supervised the kids at each exercise station.

A bag of healthy snacks that included information on how to eat healthy and nearby United Way-funded agencies was handed out to each of the children at the end of the event. The snacks were provided by the Healthy Youth Partnership and Schnucks Market.

The NFL and United Way have had a successful partnership for more than 30 years. Hometown Huddle has been a part of that success for the past eight years. Chris Draft and his Chris Draft Family Foundation were also involved with the 2007 United Way of Greater St. Louis Hometown Huddle.
