Boston, MA. Each year, Upstage Lung Cancer has bestowed our “Fan Award” on an individual or organization whose efforts have shown exceptional leadership in the area of lung cancer.
It could be for the courage to speak out and raise awareness, for advocacy, or for conducting research leading to new methods of early detection and identification of lung cancer.
This year, we are thrilled to announce that the 2016 recipient of the Upstage Lung Cancer "Fan Award" is: Chris Draft, of Team Draft!
Team Draft is all about "empowering people to live longer and live stronger by changing the face of lung cancer."
Chris is a 12-year veteran of the NFL.
After the loss of his wife, Keasha Rutledge, in 2011 to Stage 4 lung cancer, Chris dedicated his life to improving the world for lung cancer patients.
In fact, Team Draft was launched on Chris and Keasha's wedding day.
We are so appreciative of Chris's accomplishments in using sports to build a community of awareness and advocacy around lung cancer. This is an inspiration to Upstage Lung Cancer, as we strive to build the same awareness community using the performing arts.
Chris, and Team Draft, have made great advancements in the struggle to "change the face of lung cancer," and they have certainly changed countless lives for the better.
 Thank-you, Chris, and Team Draft!
