Indigo W. - "The Blind Side" Kansas City

I believe one of the main character traits that allows me to excel is my piousness. When I look at myself in the mirror, all I see is a mere human that is incapable of finding better qualities in me than what God has given. I try to look deeper and find a new truth, but no other explanation could truly satisfy my heart. In the Blind Side, the sign over the entrance to the school said, "With man this is possible, With God anything is possible"

This emblem is significant to me, because that is what I was taught my whole life in church and in my home. I would love to think that I have a significant role in how my life has turned out or even the simple fact of being alive, but I can honestly say that statement would be a lie. If it wasn't for the Lord, I don't know where I would be.

Another quality that I believe is a vital part of my life is perseverance. I've always been strong willed. My stride for greatness started when I was in 1st grade. I never had a stable school life, because every year I went somewhere new. Being only seven years old, this made it hard for me to develop socially. By the sixth grade, I made a conscious decision that I would stop being safe and show my peers that I was somebody. I entered the school talent show and sang despite my lack of confidence about my voice. From that experience, I became more confident. Had I not persevered through that talent show, I wouldn't have the great friends I have now or the opportunity to be an example for people who have my same problem.
