Change begins with the person themselves. Change has been here for years. With Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. there was change, with Barack Obama there is change, and as individuals, we have the ability to make a change for the good. We must change the way we live, the way we think, and the way we make decisions. So, I was asked one day: what would I change about my community? During the past years, guns have controlled the streets of liberty city. The death rate of young teens has risen to an extreme height. The young are becoming extinct. Every month or less, a youngster is killed by gun violence. Most of the violence has become black on black crime. Our streets, schools and playgrounds are becoming grave yards. As a community, we must put an end to the violence.

We the community shouldn't have to be affected by an incident for us to react to the issue in a positive way. We are not just a community, we're a family. No matter where our residence is, we should want to have a protective, effective, successful community. Although parents are the first effective adults in their child's life, it takes a village to raise a child and a strong community to support the children that abide within the community. Our community plays a very important role in what the children of our community become in the future.
